Effects and Benefits of Korean Red Ginseng

Ginseng has been part of Chinese medicine for centuries. It had been used in many other Asian countries for nearly as long. For some people in these countries, it was not so much medical treatment as a regular part of their life, like drinking herbal tea. Ginseng was considered healthy, and something to be taken on a regular basis.

There are two common forms of Ginseng, with a few variations within these two types. One is the Asian variety, the other is found in the USA. Both grow in moist, shaded conditions.

Korean Ginseng -  This is the most potent form of Ginseng, with the best medicinal properties. It boosts the metabolism and has a warming effect. It can provide energy and mental clarity. Some people consider Korean Red Ginseng to be the only true form of ginseng.

American Ginseng - This is more common but less potent. It would be helpful in high regard was it not for the fact that Korean Ginseng is stronger. Many do not consider it true ginseng. Yet, it is still healthy in its own right. And it is cheaper than other Ginseng, so we can afford to use more of it. In contrast to Asian Ginseng, it has a warming effect.

Indian Ginseng - Also known as Ashwagandha, this is also not considered true ginseng, though it is quite healthy, with a variety of antioxidant benefits. It is similar to other ginseng, but not as potent.
